FAA Regulation Minimums:
Steps Required:
- Obtain an FAA third class medical certificate
- Complete ground school for the Robinson R44
- Log sufficient flight training
- Pass an FAA written test
- Pass an FAA oral and flight test
Requirements for obtaining your Private Pilot helicopter license are as follow:
- 40 hours minimum flight time in helicopter, including:
- 20 hours of dual flight instruction, including:
- 3 hours of dual cross-country flight
- 3 hours of night flight, including 50NM x-country and 10 take offs and landings
- 3 hours in preparation for the flight test
- 10 hours of solo flight time, including:
- 3hrs of cross-country flight, including 100NM x-country.

The above are minimum hours required to be eligible for the practical test. Average students can expect to be closer to 50 hour total time in preparation for the test. Pricing is based on 10 Hour Block Rates.
